It is a five block walk to New York City’s mass transit system. The train to downtown Manhattan is an approximately 45 minute ride. This spacious "artist studio" is a two story, fully equipped house, the bedrooms are on the second floor along with a 1/2 bath, the first floor is 18' x 32' kitchen and studio area, the full bath is 6'x 10'. The house is built on pilings over Jamaica Bay, within an intimate colony of homes accessible by a 300-foot boardwalk over the tidal marshlands. There is one queen one double and one single bed. The studio has towels & sheets; however, they are not changed daily. There are also cooking utensils, etc. and small grocery stores as well as a laundry mat within walking distance.
Broad Channel is just 20 minutes from Kennedy Airport and a 45 train ride to downtown Manhattan. This neighborhood consists of single family homes, public parks which include with handball and tennis courts. Small boats can be rented at a local fishing station within walking distance. Guests may visit the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge which is a 15-minute walk. A 5 to10 minute bus ride will bring guests to Rockaway Beach on the Atlantic Ocean. Rockaway Beach is one of New York City’s public beaches where you can enjoy swimming, surfing and surf fishing. Lifeguards are on duty from late May through early September
Airport Information and Direction :
From JFK by taxi take the Belt Parkway west to exit 17 S the Rockaways You will be on Cross Bay Blvd heading south Approx. 1 mile to bridge into Broad Channel The first traffic light is for Gateway Jamaica Bay Wildlife preserve. After the 2nd traffic light at 6th road. Stay right on to Shad Creek Road it comes up on an angle. Take Shad Creek to the end West 10th Road the house is on the right side of the road.
