Our private cottage property enjoys a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, lush tropical gardening, and enchanting starry nights. Breathtaking Waipio Valley, with its black sand beach, is only seven miles away. Our central location makes the Volcano, Akaka Falls, the Botanical gardens, snorkeling beaches and all the other sights an easy and beautiful drive. A short walk away from our quiet two acres is Honokaa, an old plantation town where time has stood still. Our quiet tropical paradise lets you feel as if you are miles from civilization-but you can walk to town for groceries, a pizza, and a movie. Medial facilities, banks, post office, and other services are offered with aloha by our local community.
The Property: Luana Ola Cottage property is located on two very private, organic acres with sweeping unobstructed ocean views. One side of the property is bordered by tropical gulch where there are great views, from the cottages, of many types of colorful fragrant Gingers as well as Kikui Nut trees, Palm trees, Papayas, Bananas, Avocados, and a variety of Citrus trees. When our produce is in season, we like to share with guests. There are also Ferns and tropical flowers like Heliconia, Hibiscus, Orchids, etc. There is a 10 foot and 30 foot intermittent Waterfall. Enjoy incredible ocean views from your own private lanai! Maui and Haleakala Mountain are common views. During Whale watching season whales can be seen breaching off shore. Our Koi pond appeals to both adults and children.
Honokaa Town: From your private cottage you can walk all to town in minutes where you will find a surprising number of cute little shops with everything from antiques to local crafts for that perfect gift for those unfortunate friends that had to stay back home. The town Theater, The Honokaa Peoples Theater, is also a short walk and it shows art-type films on Tuesday, Wednesday and top box office-types on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The center of Honokaa houses several well established Artisan Crafts' people of the Hamakua Coast; reminiscent of the Monterey-Carmel Coast was in the 1950s' and 60s'. The Old Macadamia Nut Factory is a must see with coffee roasting and glass blowing and lots of great local art and crafts! Grocery shopping, quaint restaurants, post office, banking, medical facilities, and other services are offered with aloha by our local community residents.
Golfing in the Area : Local golf courses at the Hamakua Country Club and in Kamuela, HI are available at very reasonable fees.
