 The 'Shack on the Sand' is an attitude not just a place. The beach at the door produces a feeling of relaxation and calm. The bright clean comfortable rooms can't help but make you feel sunny. All of the extras and art work will certainly make you feel welcome. My guests joke that if it isn't here, you don't need it. Besides all of the appliances and electronics, there are reference books about local birds, mammals, marine life and plants. There are also local history books as well as a computer and High Speed access to the Internet. We are 28 miles from the Tampa airport. There is a beach trolley that runs every 20 minutes as well as the bus routes that cover the entire region. There are at least 8 restaurants within five minutes walking distance. A few guests take a shuttle from the airport and never drive at all while they enjoy being beach bums.

 

Some guests just sit on the porch, watch sunsets, walk the beach and enjoy adult beverages. Many other guests make a real effort to visit local attractions, but cannot see them all in a week. What ever your choices this is a place to which you will want to return.

Area Information :

 Indian Rocks Beach (IRB) is located on a barrier island that is approx. 20 miles long. It runs from Clearwater Beach to St. Pete's Beach. Gulf Blvd is the hwy. that runs the length of the island. Indian Rocks Beach is a small community with parks, a bandstand and festivals. The homeowners are active and the town benefits from their parties and fundraisers. There are: beach, food and October festivals, parades, events and a Christmas boat parade. Three open air artists have gained fame for their renderings of the beach cottages. A yearly calendar featuring the beach cottages is available in the museum along with several books about the area beaches and IRB. Indian Rocks Beach is a small town on the beach and intercoastal waterway that welcomes guests.
